To rise or heave upward under the influence of a natural force such as a wave.

Taken from the latin word “scandere” which means

“to climb or to go up”.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Saturdays and Sundays may be booked pending confirmation.
  • Please consider a minimum of 30 minutes to load-in + setup, and 30 minutes to breakdown + reset the studio to it’s original condition when booking time.

• Freemason Street Parking Garage. Parking is FREE for up to 2 hours.

• For productions that require a significant amount of load-in/load-out, please contact us to access up to 2 hours of parking in the gated lot next to the studio with load-in access through the back door.

• Metered street parking is also available.

CREATOR MEMBERS*

  • 1 hour of booking time per month towards a meeting room or the audio podcast studio, in addition to your 4 hours of studio time.
  • (1) Access to Assembly Community events.

PRODUCER MEMBERS*

  • Up to 2 hours of booking time per month towards a meeting room or the audio podcast studio, in addition to your 10 hours of studio time.

  • (1) FREE access to all events by Social Supply VA.

EXECUTIVE MEMBERS*

  • Up to 3 hours of booking time per month towards a meeting room or the audio podcast studio, in addition to your 10 hours of studio time. 
  • (1) Access to Assembly Community events.
  • (1) VIP access to all events by Digital Builders.
  • (1) VIP access to all events by Social Supply VA.
  • Member Portal

  • The first floor lobby and mezzanine level are transient areas for light administrative tasks at no additional cost, before or after your booked studio time. But not intended for extended periods of use.
  • You can also meet clients for coffee or lunch at Three Ships Coffee.
  • Scend Studio may also host free or ticketed events in the studio with RSVPs sent to people registered in our system.

Equipment is only available for use in Full Service Production Packages, operated by authorized Scend Crew members.

  • Although we’re close to Granby Street, it’s relatively quiet, unless a Harley Davidson rolls by.
  • The nearest fire station is .5 mile away.
  • The nearest railroad is 1 mile away.
  • The nearest airport is 7 miles away.
  • Hourly studio sessions have a capacity limit to up to 5 people, including the primary user. (i.e. 2 Cast, 3 Crew)
  • Scend Members are allowed up to 7 people total including the member. (i.e. 4 Cast, 3 Crew)
  • Please contact us directly if your studio session will include more people.

Prohibited production and content types:

  • Adult or Pornographic Content
    • Includes nudity, simulated sexual acts, or explicit materials.
    • Protects the reputation of both Scend and Assembly.
  • Hate Speech or Extremist Content
    • Any content promoting racism, bigotry, violence, or extremist ideologies.
    • Legally and ethically important.
  • Violent or Graphic Content
    • Simulated or real violence, gore, or depictions of abuse or cruelty.
    • Especially important in a space shared with other businesses and members.
  • Illegal or Unsafe Activities
    • Any production involving weapons, drugs, or activities that violate local, state, or federal law.
    • This includes unlicensed use of firearms, pyrotechnics, or stunts.
  • Disruptive Audio Levels
    • Music videos or productions that produce sustained, loud sound without prior notice or soundproofing.
    • Important for maintaining peace with neighboring tenants.
  • Live Animals
    • Unless specifically cleared and properly managed, animals present liability, cleanliness, and allergy issues.
  • Large-Scale Group Events/Programming (Without Approval)
    • Productions that convert the space into a de facto event venue, unless cleared beforehand (e.g., screenings, parties, etc.).
